Project and Folder Properties

The COBOL project properties comprise some properties that apply to the project generally, regardless of the type of build, and some properties that apply to specific build configurations of the project, such as a debug build or release build.

You access a project's properties from Project > <project> properties.

To access the properties of a workspace that contains file opened inside Visual Studio using Open > Folder, right-click the folder in Solution Explorer and click Properties.

Application Properties for .NET COBOL
The Application property page for .NET COBOL projects lets you specify properties such as the name of the target assembly file to build and output type, targeted version of the .NET framework, .NET or Startup object.
Application properties for native COBOL
The Application property page for native COBOL projects lets you specify properties such as the name of the file to build and entry point for the application.
Assembler Properties
The properties you specify on the Assembler page in your project properties apply to the selected configuration.
BMS Properties
The BMS page in the project, folder or file properties enables you to specify build settings for BMS files.
COBOL Link Page
You use the COBOL Link page in your project properties to link your native project to a run-time system and specify link parameters.
COBOL Properties
The properties you specify on the COBOL page in the project properties apply to the selected configuration.
Micro Focus Code Analysis
The code analysis rules you enable on this page in the project's properties are executed when you build the project.
Dependency Paths
The Dependency Paths page in the project's properties or a in the properties of a folder opened using Open > Folder enables you to specify the paths to the directories in which this development system searches for copybook files.
Container Project Properties
The Containers page is visible only for projects that have a Dockerfile.
Debug Properties
The properties you specify on the Debug page of the project properties apply to the selected configuration.
Enterprise Server Folder Properties
The properties you specify on the Enterprise Server page in the properties of a folder loaded in Solution Explorer applies to all files in the folder.
Enterprise Server Debug Folder Properties
The properties you specify on the ES Debug page in the properties of a folder loaded in Solution Explorer applies to all files in the folder.
IMS Properties
The IMS pages in your project or folder properties enable you to specify output folders for the generated files, or DBD, PSB or MFS build settings.
Namespaces
The Namespaces page in the project properties lets you add or update namespaces for your .NET COBOL project, or specify paths to referenced assemblies.
Preprocessor Properties
The Preprocessors page in your project or file properties enables you to specify one or more additional preprocessors to use with your project or files. It also enables you to specify the order in which the IDE should execute the preprocessors.
SQL Properties
The SQL page in your project, folder or file properties enables you to select an ESQL preprocessor and to add SQL directives.
