Printer Routines

Tip: When deploying COBOL applications in a .NET environment, you can optimize printing by adding Switch.System.Drawing.Printing.OptimizePrintPreview=true to your application configuration file; see Printing Performance for .NET Deployed COBOL Applications for more information.

The printer handling routines enable greater control over printing than the standard COBOL syntax.

PC_PRINT_FILE
Prints the contents of the specified file, optionally displaying printer control, font, and progress indicator dialog boxes, before commencing the print.
PC_PRINTER_CLOSE
Closes a previously opened printer channel.
PC_PRINTER_CONTROL
Sends a print command to a printer.
PC_PRINTER_DEFAULT_FONT
Sets the default font for all PC_PRINTER_ routines.
PC_PRINTER_DEFAULT_NAME
Sets the default printer for all PC_PRINTER_ routines.
PC_PRINTER_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES
Sets one or more of the properties of the default printer for all PC_PRINTER_ routines.
PC_PRINTER_DRAW_RECTANGLE
Draws an outline or filled rectangle at position start-x, start-y to end-x, end-y.
PC_PRINTER_ENUM_CLOSE
Ends the process of enumerating printers.
PC_PRINTER_ENUM_NEXT
Gets the name of the next enumerated printer.
PC_PRINTER_ENUM_START
Starts the process of enumerating printers.
PC_PRINTER_FREE_BMP
Frees a bitmap from memory, releasing its image and palette back to the operating system.
PC_PRINTER_GET_BMP_INFO
Retrieves the width and height of a loaded bitmap.
PC_PRINTER_GET_COLOR
Gets the color on the printer.
PC_PRINTER_GET_FONT
Gets the font on the printer.
PC_PRINTER_INFO
Returns a native device context handle, and other information that can be used to enhance the printing of a document by calling native graphics functions directly.
PC_PRINTER_INFO_DOTNET
Enables the access to the native Hdc for a printer. Invokes a delegate with the current .NET Graphics object for the printer handle along with a Rectangle object and the PageSettings object.
PC_PRINTER_LINE_FROM_TO
Draws a line from start-x,start-y to end-x,end-y.
PC_PRINTER_LOAD_BMP
Loads a bitmap or other supported file format into memory ready for the PC_PRINTER_WRITE_BMP function.
PC_PRINTER_OPEN
Opens a printer channel, giving it a document title, and optionally displaying printer control, font, and progress indicator dialog boxes
PC_PRINTER_REDIRECTION_PROC
Registers a user function that is called when a program uses OPEN OUTPUT syntax and the ASSIGN TO PRINTER clause.
PC_PRINTER_SET_BACKGROUND_MIX_MODE
Sets background printing mode.
PC_PRINTER_SET_COLOR
Sets the color on the printer.
PC_PRINTER_SET_DEFAULT
Sets a process-wide default printer before a printer is opened.
PC_PRINTER_SET_FONT
Sets the current font for the printer.
PC_PRINTER_SET_PEN
Set the width, style and colour for lines and rectangles when drawn using a printer.
PC_PRINTER_SET_POSITION
Move the logical printer position ready for the next PC_PRINTER_WRITE.
PC_PRINTER_WRITE
Writes a text string to the printer.
PC_PRINTER_WRITE_BMP
Write a loaded bitmap to a printer at a specified position with a given size.
