Synonyms

Synonym functionality in Knowledge Discovery allows searches for conceptually similar terms when certain terms are used in the query text. In this case, conceptually similar terms are defined by the synonyms provided to the Content component.

You can use synonyms in Knowledge Discovery in one of three ways:

• Activate Synonyms in a Content component. This solution is the easiest, but least scalable.

• Add a Synonym Content component. This solution is much more scalable, but the front end has to be aware of the synonym server.

• Use QMS Synonym Functionality. This solution retains scalability, and the front end can route all Content component actions through the QMS transparently.
