Assembler Support

Studio Enterprise Edition now provides the IBM^® High Level Assembler capability on 32-bit Windows machines. The feature enables you to generate Assembler data tables needed by the COBOL applications and execute critical Assembler subroutines in Studio Enterprise Edition which removes the need to rewrite them in COBOL.

Note: Assembler is available only for development and testing purposes and offers no production support.

The IBM^® High Level Assembler is available from the COBOL command line and includes the following:

• Assembler linker capable of generating Assembler data tables or executable code.
• COBOL runtime loader modified to load and execute Assembler executable modules.
