Prerequisite Software

To successfully deploy and access a Java service, you must have both the Java Development Kit (JDK) and a J2EE application server installed. This tutorial provides instructions for using the JBoss application server. Therefore, to complete the tutorial successfully, you must install and configure the JDK and JBoss software as follows:

JDK version 1.5 or later - After installation, set your system path statement to include the path to your JDK installation's \bin directory. For example:
set path=c:\program files\java\jdk1.5\bin;%path%
JBoss version 4.2.3
- Edit the run.bat file, located in your JBoss installation's \bin directory, and set the JAVA_HOME environment variable to the directory containing your JDK. For example:
  - set JAVA_HOME=c:\program files\java\jdk1.5
- Edit the jboss-service.xml file located in your JBoss installation's \server\default\conf folder as follows:
  - Set CallByValue to true
- Edit the ear-deployer.xml file located in your JBoss installation's \server\default\deploy folder as follows:
  - Set Isolated to false
  - Set CallByValue to true
- Edit the jboss-service.xml file located in your JBoss installation's \server\default\deploy\jboss-web.deployer\META-INF folder as follows:
  - Set Java2ClassLoadingCompliance to true
  - Set UseJBossWebLoader to false
